If you’re living in Northamptonshire with a long-term health condition, and you sense that life might offer more than what you’re experiencing right now, we can help. And we’d love to hear from you.
Spring is a community-driven support network, here to help people in Northamptonshire manage their health and wellbeing. The programme is supported by the NHS and Public Health Northamptonshire.

How Spring can help you
At Spring, we’ve seen people transform by being supported to rediscover pleasures and build on their abilities – in everything from walking and gardening, to guitar lessons and five-a-side football.
We've designed a new approach to health – one that’s different from other services you may be used to:
-
Our link workers will help you work out what you want from life, and then support you to take control of your own health and wellbeing so you can make that a reality.
-
Through a six to 12-month programme, they’ll put you in touch with all the support services you need, and stay close at hand to help ensure you progress comfortably.
-
Along the way they’ll connect you with others in the community. With their help, these new habits will soon be second nature.
-
The best bit: everything happens right on your doorstep.
So after six to 12 months working with Spring, you won’t end up simply back where you started. You’ll be in a better place to discover and participate in opportunities you’d forgotten were even possible.
More about Spring and social prescribing
Spring offers a social prescribing service, a new approach to health that helps you focus on the positives, and connects you with further support in the community in order to manage your mental and physical health.
Social prescribing puts you in touch with local support that can make you feel better, whether that’s through your health, your home, your work or your social life, in a way that’s right for you. And it gives you the confidence and guidance to get back to taking ownership of your health.
It’s a model that’s becoming increasingly popular. People are living longer these days, and they’re developing more long-term health conditions as they get older. Health is affected by a huge range of factors, including work, housing, debt, social isolation and the wider environment. To ensure broader factors are considered as part of health provision, the NHS has called for a bigger focus on preventing illness and improving public health – as well as greater engagement with people and communities.
The social prescribing model is already in practice around the country and is already beginning to develop in Northamptonshire at our county’s GP practices. But Northamptonshire is believed to be the first area in England to establish an integrated social prescribing service at a county-wide level to support people to choose well, stay well and live well.
